Kevin Costner and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Christine Costner, are engaged in a legal battle over their shared compound. Kevin, known for his role in the TV show Yellowstone, is seeking to have Christine and their children vacate the family home. However, Christine is fighting back, claiming that Kevin is trying to kick them out of the only home their children have ever known.
In the latest filing obtained by Insider, Christine’s lawyer, John Rydell, argues that there is no legal basis for Kevin’s request. He states that Kevin’s attempt to remove Christine and their three children from their long-time residence lacks justification. Rydell emphasizes the importance of the matter to Christine, despite the weak legal grounds presented by Kevin.
Kevin’s legal team, represented by Laura Wasser, counters with the claim that Christine is disregarding their 2004 prenuptial agreement. The agreement stipulates that she should vacate the property within 30 days of filing for divorce. Although Christine filed for divorce on May 1 in Santa Barbara County Court, she has yet to move out. Kevin’s team urges the court to enforce the terms of the prenup, accusing Christine of refusing to leave until her financial demands are met.
Kevin states in his declaration that he has already paid Christine $1 million as per the prenuptial agreement. He also offers an additional $200,000 for a down payment on a new home, covers the costs of her mortgage, property tax, and insurance for a year, and contributes $30,000 for child support and $10,000 for moving expenses. Furthermore, he reveals that he gave Christine $100,000 upon their marriage and another $100,000 on their first anniversary, which has grown to $450,000 in savings.
According to Kevin, Christine has withdrawn $95,000 from his bank account or charged it to his credit card for legal and accountant fees without prior notice.
The documents acknowledge that Kevin and Christine have agreed in principle to share custody of their three teenage children and are working on a summer visitation schedule. Kevin takes full financial responsibility for the children’s expenses.
Kevin’s real estate portfolio includes properties in Carpinteria, Ventura, and Los Angeles. He purchased his Carpinteria property in 1994 and expanded it over the years. He also owns a ranch in Aspen, Colorado, where he married Christine in 2004.
Kevin and his first wife, Cindy Silva, had one of Hollywood’s most expensive divorces in history. The settlement reportedly amounted to $80 million.
Kevin is currently focused on his upcoming movie series titled Horizon: An American Saga. Despite the personal challenges he is facing, he remains dedicated to his work.
As the legal battle unfolds, Kevin’s fans eagerly await updates on his personal and professional life.
