Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that even though some of our favorite heroes might be leaving, the world of superheroes is far from over. In particular, fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy (GOTG) franchise can look forward to some exciting new developments in the future.
The third and final installment of the GOTG franchise, aptly named Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, marks the official goodbye to director James Gunn and some of the beloved characters like Drax and Gamora. However, the movie also gives rise to a new team of heroes who will take up the mantle of the Guardians.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the end-credit scenes provide a glimpse of what the MCU will be like in the future. As is customary in Marvel movies, there are two post-credit scenes. The first one shows the new GOTG team consisting of Rocket, Groot, Cosmo, Kraglin, Adam, Phyla, and Blurp, who are on a new mission together. While the citizens of the planet are all freaking out behind them, they share their favorite musical artist as they await their enemies. The scene then shifts to their battle preparations, indicating that this new team will be just as fun and adventurous as the old one.
The second end-credit scene shows Peter Quill back on Earth with his grandfather, enjoying cereal. His granddad is reading a newspaper that mentions Kevin Bacon being taken by aliens, which is a nod to The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. The scene ends with a message that Star-Lord will return, leaving fans eager to see where his story goes next.
While some characters like Drax and Gamora might not be returning in the future, it’s clear that the GOTG franchise will continue to thrive with a new team of heroes taking the lead. Fans can stay confident that Quill’s story isn’t over, even if he doesn’t join them again.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may mark the end of an era, but it also signals the beginning of a new one. With a new team of heroes ready to take on the galaxy, fans can look forward to more exciting adventures in the future of the MCU.
